Using Laptop As A Phone Number

The situation occurs frequently: You're in a meeting or seminar with no cell phone reception, but you urgently need to get a text message to a colleague. If you have your laptop with you and are connected to business email, you have one relatively easy way to send text messages to a phone. Using a special email address that cell phone service providers automatically create for every user, you can send a quick message from any email client.

Determine your recipient's cell phone provider, such as Verizon or AT&T. This information is critical because each carrier uses a different email address.

2.

Formulate the correct email address by combining the recipient's 10-digit phone number with the correct domain: '@messaging.sprintpcs.com' for Sprint, '@vtext.com' for Verizon, '@tmomail.net' for T-Mobile or '@txt.att.net' for AT&T. For example, if the phone number is (123) 456-7890 and the recipient's carrier is Verizon, the correct email address would be:

1234567890@vtext.com Loading of unpacked extensions is disabled by administrator eclipse.

3.

Compose your email and send it to the email address you formulated. Note that your recipient may be charged for every individual message that is sent. A long email will be broken up into 160-character text messages, so your recipient may be charged many times for a single long message.
